It's not just a number, it's an attitude & HYC check-in

Despite my spectacular point-fest on Wednesday, I was down 1.2 at today's weigh in. I'm very pleased with that. Not just because it's down, but because I did't react to Wednesday's overload by cutting back Thursday - Monday. I just got back on plan, plain and simple. I probably could have had a bigger loss if I had done something drastic, but I'm very happy as is.

Thank you to all who commented on my last couple posts: it really helped.

Today my throat is sore and I ached all over this morning. Not because of some impending cold or 'flu, but because last night we were back at flyball practise for the first time in 3 weeks. (We had to miss a couple due to MIL's move and my dog's injury.) In order to be heard over many excited dogs barking in a low ceilinged basement, you've gotta yell!! My dog is really improving in her training, which means a lot more sprinting, jumping, and tugging... for both of us!

She tries to figure out what I want her to do, but she has fun regardless. Although I know that the eventual goal is for us to compete in a tournament, my dog has no idea. Right now for me it's all about the small victories as she hits those milestones in training. For her it's a blast.

As I teach her how to play this game, she is teaching me how to enjoy the moment. To enjoy the small victories all by themselves just for what they are. Yes, the goal is important, but it's not everything. My dog has a fabulous attitude.

This weekend my flyball club is hosting a tournament, and, because my dog is not running, I will be working at the head table. It basically amounts to sitting for 8-10 hours on both Saturday and Sunday, gah! Usually people bring food to you and believe you me, junk abounds.

I am planning, though! I'm packing a cooler with lunch and snacks like carrots, fruit, yogurt, and water. A cooler that I can just slide under the table, sort of my secret weapon! Fail to plan, plan to fail.
