Today I'm down another pound. Ordinarily I would say "yea!", but this time I thought "aw, crap" as the scale showed 203.8. I missed 60 lbs lost by 0.2! I couldn't pull off 1.2 lbs :p
The WW leader shook my hand and said I must feel fabulous. All I could do was bemoan the 0.2, to which he replied, "phht! Point two! Go get a haircut, there's your point two!"
He was right, of course. At 59.8 lbs lost, I do feel good. No, not quite fabulous, but pretty darn good. I felt pretty darn good at 50 lbs lost, so why wouldn't I feel good at 59.8 gone? So... Yea! Another pound gone this week! Woo hoo!
I've been increasing my activity this week. I've added in the Walk Off the Pounds workouts that I bought before Christmas, as well as doing all of the snow shovelling this week (for us and a neighbour), which has been a lot of freakin' snow(more coming tomorrow!)
One day after we got home from work, my husband grabbed the shovel to dig out the plow fill-in. I shouted "Nooo!" He looked at me like I was crazy before I explained that he was honing in on my exercise. (Even then he still thought I was a little nuts!)
The point is, last year at this time I was not able to shovel snow. I was waiting on tests and test results to see if there was something structurally wrong with my heart that threw me into a-fib on January 9th. I was told not to exert myself until the results came in. I remember the day in February when I found out that there was no structural damage. I was so elated that I came home and, you guessed it, shovelled snow. I was out of breath and exhausted after a few minutes, but I hadn't had so much fun with a shovel since I was 4 years old at the beach!
Now I can shovel for more than an hour before, er, well, I run out of things to shovel before I get tired! I even shovel off the boardwalk we have running around the backyard for the dogs.
One of my goals in the coming months is to gradually increase my activity in a variety of ways. I don't have precise ideas about how yet, but I want to become consistently active. I'll continue walking, then there's flyball season in the spring, workout dvds, maybe some classes with the local recreation department, maybe give the couch to 5k a shot?

I'm going to have to learn to shovel snow... At least I'm getting fit for it so long.
Well done on your loss this week. You really are doing well. Another pound gone!
Wow you're doing great!! Congrats on the nice week you've had :)
Way to go! You're doing great, and I laughed when you reflected that look on your husband's face. Definitely something I can see in animation. I honestly can't say I've ever found fun with the snow shovel. I've considered it the nemesis in my existance, but it has to get done!
Congrats on the loss! and good for you for increasing your activity.
Great job! And I can see you doing the couch to 5K!
It might not officially say it, but I'm calling it 60 pounds. congrats!
What a great post! to look back and see how far you have come in terms of activity level and ability, really well done.
60 pounds ... WOW so fantastic, well done!!!
Congrats on the loss!
Sounds like you're gonna have lots of fun getting more active this year :)
WooHoo, a loss!! It all adds up and you'll get to that 60 lb mark soon!! Keep up the good work.
CONGRATULATIONS! How amazing do you feel?
That .2 is probably gone now. One of my earrings alone weighs that.
Congrats on your loss!!! You'll reach that 60 pound mark next week for sure!
Snow! I remember a few years ago, I could only shovel snow for about 10 minutes (tops) before I had to stop from total exertion. Ever since losing a major part of my weight, I'm amazed when I have to shovel. I can shovel for HOURS. AND it's great exercise!
You are doing so well! I tend to round up to the nearest whole number since tell people I lost .8 or however much of a pound just sounds weird. So I am rounding you up to 60 and saying you are AWESOME. Seriously, you are doing soooo well!
Couch to 5k! Couch to 5k! I am about to embark on it again to get me re-started with the running. It's fun, sort of. Well, being able to run a bit when you couldn't before is fun!
We don't get enough snow to shovel here (in the southern US)! Sigh...
You are doing SO well!
In old money, 56lbs is 4 stone (we still use stones in the UK) - so you have passed that marker!
Congrats! You have done so awesome! You're a true inspiration.
woo hoo on your amazing weight loss! I have lots of snow to shovel here, btw, if you are interested. (though that would take away dh's only form of exercise...so nevermind!)
Way to go on your great progress and attitude!
I came upon your blog by accident... just wanted to say 'way to go'...;-)
Kathlee
WTG on the loss! But I'm most impressed with your exercise...I mean shovelling routine! That is a workout!
I laughed out loud when you told about last year and how you came home and shoveled snow when you got the good news. Must have been a huge weight off your shoulders.
